US TSYS/RESEARCH: BMO analysts Ian Lyngen and Aaron Kohli said in the week
ahead, US "inflation will once again take center stage with the release of the
October CPI series and with headline inflation seen at +0.1% MoM and core-CPI at
+0.2%, to suggest that there is room for a surprise would be to state the
obvious."
- "We'll be the first to acknowledge that the Fed's persistent dismissal of
inflation's conspicuous absence as a puzzle, turned mystery, turned enigma,
reduces the immediate policy relevance of the CPI release," they said. "While
the Fed won't be deterred from hiking in December by another disappointing
inflation read (for that it would take a correction in stocks), the data should
prove far more compelling for the Treasury market and the shape of the yield
curve."
