ARGENTINA: BofA Recommends Long Position In Sovereign Bonds, Due 2030

ARGENTINA
  • Bank of America recommends a long position in Argentina’s sovereign notes due in 2030 following a correction in bond prices.
    • BofA says that a staff-level agreement with the IMF by March would provide a boost to bond prices in the short-term. In their view, an IMF deal, which could be a $20bn EFF with $5-10bn paid upfront, is not fully priced in.
    • They also believe the market is underestimating scope for further austerity measures from the government and positive surprises from further reforms, including on FX policy.
