Boluarte Reshuffles Cabinet, Key Ministers Retained

  • President Dina Boluarte reshuffled six posts in her cabinet on Wednesday, the second partial reshuffle in her eight-month-old administration, though she retained ministers overseeing the key economy and energy and mining portfolios. Peru's ministers of education, justice, transport, labor, production and agrarian development were dismissed. (Reuters)
  • Separately, Prime Minister Alberto Otarola indicated that the 2024 budget contains central objectives that reflect commitment to economic stability, equity and progress for all. Otarola stressed that the allocation of resources for 2024 is the greatest in the last 12 years, which will guarantee the reactivation of stalled public works.
  • A reminder that the September BCRP meeting will take place next Thursday where several analysts are expecting the first rate cut. Key economic activity data for July will be released the following day.
