BP Rotterdam Refinery Under Work-to-Rule Action

Workers at the BP oil refinery in Rotterdam will start work-to-rule action from Monday, as pay demands have not been met, according to a union official

  • The union members have been demanding an answer on their pay demands by noon on 14 November.
  • Union members, accounting for around 60% of workers at the refinery, have demanded a 6% salary increase by 1 January. BP so far has offered 5% and a one-time payment.
  • In a work-to-rule action, employees maintain strict adherence to the terms of their contract, which effectively slows work and reduces productivity.
