Breaking Up Uniper Risks “Open Conflict” with Verdi Union

German union Verdi warned Finnish parent Fortum that breaking up Uniper would risk "open conflict" with the union.

  • Fortum has proposed ringfencing Uniper's German business under government ownership which the union says would threaten all 5,00 jobs in Germany.
  • Uniper is struggling due to soaring prices and limited supplies and is already in bailout talks with the German government as it faced losing €10bn euros.
