BRIEF: EU Finance Ministers Back Georgieva For 2nd Term At IMF

European Union finance ministers have unanimously backed Kristalina Georgieva for a second term as managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Belgian Finance Minister Vincent Van Peteghem said on Tuesday.

The selection process now passes to the IMF Executive Board, which Van Peteghem said he hoped would be “quick and timely.” Georgieva has been head of the Fund since 2019. (See MNI INTERVIEW: Emerging Markets Face "Last Mile" Test-IMF's Wu)
