Britain Aims to Help Kazakh Oil Get to Western Markets

Britain will help Kazakhstan develop oil export routes bypassing Russia, British Foreign Minister James Cleverly said on a visit to the Central Asian nation on Saturday.

  • They discussed a so-called “Middle Corridor” to export its crude - a route that crosses the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, and requires significant investment in order to boost its capacity.
  • Flows via the CPC pipeline which passes through Russia have faced numerous setbacks in the last year. Europe is eager to purchase Kazakh volumes to replace those lost from Russian sanctions.
