CPI came in unchanged to one decimal place in October with changes 
across a number basket components neutralising each other. Food prices, 
contributing -0.06pp to the overall monthly change, were pushed lower by 
yoghurt and cheese prices - driven purely by base effects. Clothing 
prices also moderated (-0.05pp from the change in CPI). On the year, 
clothing prices slumped 1.1%, the biggest fall in over two years, but 
the ONS could not attribtute this to any early promotional campaigns. 
Fuels provided upward pressure, +0.03pp, while higher energy tariffs did 
also (+0.04pp). House price growth picked up but London prices fell for 
the third straight month.
