CABLE
CABLE: Cable last $1.2780, unch. after adding ~50 pips Thurs. The pair hit
session highs on a BuzzFeed report titled "May's team has discussed 2nd
referendum or softer Brexit if deal is killed next week." Article stated "a
source familiar with conversations said May's chief of staff Barwell & chief
whip Smith have discussed the merits of another referendum, but May vociferously
opposed it. May's doubts about a 2nd ref have led colleagues to believe she
could seek a softer Brexit rather than risk no Brexit, even though she believes
it would be a worse outcome than her deal." Less sensational than the headline.
- Elsewhere the Times has reported that "Sir Graham Brady, the chairman of the
1922 Committee, who relays backbench opinion to Downing Street, broke cover to
appeal for her to consider a delay to the vote on Tuesday." While the Telegraph
has reported that the Chief Whip has admitted May will lose Tuesday's Brexit
vote. The BBC has pointed to backstop amendments being tabled by Downing St.
- Bulls need to retake yesterday's peak at $1.2812 before challenging the Dec 4
high at $1.2840. Meanwhile, bears focus on yesterday's low at $1.2700.
- Focus remains on Brexit matters in the Commons.
