CAD Outperforms With Oil and USD Strength

CANADA
  • USDCAD at 1.3468 has pulled back for currently ~25 pips off earlier highs as oil sees strong gains and equity futures hold a lift off earlier lows.
  • That backdrop, combined with broad USD strength, sees CAD outperform all majors bar the USD.
  • Overnight lows of 1.3448 for USDCAD tested support at the 20-day EMA (1.3447) after which lies a key short-term support at 1.3359.
  • Largest expiries for tomorrow’s NY cut are biased lower ($0.74bn at 1.3400, $1.38bn at 1.3350, $1.09bn at 1.3300) but CAD jobs and US CPI revisions land beforehand and will likely set the precedent.
