Canada GDP Edges Up In Nov After Three Flat Months

  • Flash Nov GDP +0.1% as manufacturing, transportation, and agriculture increase. 
  • Oct GDP 0% MOM for the third consecutive month vs +0.1% expected; +0.9% YOY.
  • Sept GDP revised to 0% from +0.1%.
  • The flat October figure led by declines in manufacturing and wholesale but offset by increases in retail. 
  • Real estate agents and brokers down -6.8% in Oct, its fourth consecutive decline and the largest monthly decrease since April 2022.
  • Advance wholesale ex petroleum and grains +0.8% MOM in Nov from higher sales in motor vehicle and parts and building material sub-sectors.
  • Advance manufacturing sales +1.2% MOM in Nov. The largest increases were in the chemical product, transportation equipment, and primary metal sub-sectors.
