CB Governor Said to Stick to View of Slowing Inflation

  • Reuters cites sources in quoting the Turkish central bank governor as maintaining his view that inflation will see a significant drop by early Q4 this year, adding that the policy rate is to stand above realized and expected inflation until indicators show a lasting fall in inflation.
  • Next CBRT rate decision is due on July 14th, with most analysts expecting the bank to maintain rates at 19%. Inflation is currently running at 16.6% (17% core) and is expected to accelerate slightly in Monday's June release.
