CEE Currencies Testing New Lows Following NFP Print

  • US NFP December print came in significantly below expectations with only 199K jobs added (vs. 450K expected), the second consecutive month of ‘big misses’.
  • USD performance was mixed following the print, with DXY index first depreciating to 96.05 then rising back to 96.25 and currently trading at pre-NFP levels (96.50).
  • USDPLN continues to edge lower, currently trading slightly below the 4.02 level; next support to watch on the downside stands at 4.
  • USDCZK is also testing today’s low at 21.59; next support stands at 21.50.
  • USDHUF is currently trading slightly above today’s low at 317; a break below that level would open the door for a move down to 316.30.
