Central Bank Financial Policy Meeting, PPI Data Due Wednesday

  • On Friday, BCCh President Rosanna Costa reiterated that domestic core inflation will slow to target after headline inflation and that the local disinflationary process has not yet been consolidated. With this it remains necessary to hold benchmark interest rate at current level. Costa also stated that some surveys show inflation at target in two years; others still show inflation above target.
  • April PPI data is the sole economic data point this week before next Monday’s BCCh monetary policy meeting minutes. Worth noting the central bank begins its financial policy meeting today - not to be confused with the monetary policy meeting. A statement is expected to be published on Tuesday.
