  • Q: Was there any discussion of pausing rates today and restarting later?
  • A: The Committee did not see this as the time to pause. We judged the thing to do was hike 25bp and say we continue to anticipate ongoing increases. We'll write down new forecasts in March and we'll certainly be looking at the incoming data as everyone else will.
  • We're not thinking about or exploring [pausing then hiking at alternate meetings]. A lot of options are available. The Bank of Canada raised rates after pausing. But this is not something the FOMC is on the point of deciding right now.
