Wires and social media reporting that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has come to an agreement with the leaders of Germany's 16 states to place the entire country in a partial lockdown for a month to combat COVID-19.

  • The lockdown is expected to see bars, restaurants, hotels, and leisure centres shut but schools remain open.
  • New rules expected to come into force in the coming days.
