Chevron Finalises FID For Tamar Gas Expansion

NATURAL GAS

Chevron and partners finalised a FID for first phase of a two-phase capacity expansion of the Tamar natural gas reservoir in Israel that is scheduled to begin next year, according to the Jerusalem Post..

  • Phase one will include a third 150km pipeline from the Tamar field to the offshore Tamar platform, which will be adapted to support deliverability of up to 1.2bcf/d of natural gas.
  • The pipeline is expected to be operational in 2025.
  • Phase two of the project hinges upon an expected gas sales agreement with Tamar’s existing customer in Egypt and transportation agreements via enhanced gas transportation routes between Israel and Egypt. The decision will also require customary regulatory approvals.
  • Completion of this phase is scheduled for the second half of 2025.
  • In 2020, net daily production from the Tamar Field averaged 173mmcf/d of gas, 51mmcf/d attributed to Chevron’s share.
