Chief Negotiator Araghchi: 'Difference Are Solvable' On Nuclear Deal

Speaking ahead of the final day of talks of the latest round of negotiations in Vienna regarding the Iran nuclear deal (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, JCPoA), Iran's chief negotiator Abbas Araghchi has stated that "All parties are serious about achieving results and don't believe that differences can't be solved, but details matter."

  • Says that negotiators will return to their respective capitals after today's meeting for 'further consultations', before returning next week for the sixth round of talks.
  • Both sides will be keen to reach a deal before the Iranian election in June, and the inauguration of a new president in August. With the likelihood of a conservative hardliner coming to office, both sides will be aware of the time pressure on reaching an agreement that could see Iran coming into compliance and paving the way for the US to rejoin.
