CHILE
  • USDCLP has opened marginally higher above 974 but remains lower on the week amid the gains in copper prices. A bull cycle in USDCLP is still in play and last week’s high print reinforces the current bullish trend condition. Attention remains on 990.67, the Feb 26 high, ahead of the psychological 1000.00 handle. Initial firm support lies at 964.04, the 20-day EMA.
  • Today, President Boric will meet with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Santiago to discuss issues including the environment and AI technology. No macro data are due, with the next release set to be October PPI inflation on Friday.
  • Meanwhile, the BCCh will publish its financial stability report at 1200GMT(0700ET). Yesterday, the central bank said that its Board unanimously agreed to keep countercyclical capital requirements unchanged at 0.5% of risk-weighted assets. The Board noted that the external situation remains the main source of risk for local financial stability, while long-term rates continue to be high. The Board also said that the flow of new loans has stabilised, but aggregate bank credit activity remains weak.
