CHINA: China and the EU vowed to resist protectionism and unilateralism in a
joint statement on Monday, following the 20th EU-China Summit on the same day.
-Amid rising global trade tensions, the two sides did not refer directly to
Washington's recent actions, but said they are committed to improving trade and
investment liberalization and facilitation, and support globalization, according
to a statement sent to MNI;
-Both China and the EU will comply with existing WTO rules and establish a joint
working group on WTO reforms, the statement said;
-The EU has noticed China's recent efforts to further open up its market,
improve its investment environment, and enhance IP protection, it added;
-Both sides recognize steel overcapacity is a global challenge and will
strengthen cooperation to tackle the problem, according to the statement.
