July Export Growth Below Expectations, But Still Improvement On June

  • South Korea’s trade data surprised to the downside, coming in below market surveys.
  • Survey's pointed to a 18.4% expansion in y/y terms, but actual numbers came in at 13.9%. This was still a significant uplift from the prior month.
  • Imports increased 10.5%, also below market expectations.
  • The trade surplus at US$3.6bn down from last month, but remains strong by historical standards.
