China Considering More Fuel Exports

China is considering allowing its oil refiners to export more fuel to help revive its economy. Refiners and traders have applied for an extra 15m tons of fuel export quotas including gasoline and diesel

  • China controls the amount refiners can export with recent restrictions in place to reduce pollution and help consolidate the sector.
  • If approved this extra quota could bring 2022 amounts up 39m tons compared to 38.6mtons in 2021.
  • Utilisation at China’s state-owned refiners was just 75.3% of capacity in the week through Sept. 10, according to CITIC Futures Co.
