China Outperforms After Holiday

Chinese equities resumed operation after their holiday hiatus, with broader impetus/catch up outweighing the post-holiday liquidity drain from the PBoC, as mainland equities moved higher.

  • The remainder of the major Asia-Pac indices traded either side of unchanged, while e-minis benefitted from the White House's acknowledgement that it was willing to look at a broader fiscal deal, although a spokesperson reiterated the Trump administration's pushback against the Democrat's $2.2tn offering.
  • Nikkei 225 -0.3%, Hang Seng +0.1%, CSI 300 +2.3%, ASX 200 +0.3%.
  • S&P 500 futures +18, DJIA futures +133, NASDAQ 100 futures +52.
