CHINA PRESS: China President Xi Jinping stressed Wednesday that China should
look to become self-dependent and develop its economy and manufacturing sector
amid rising unilateralism and trade protectionism, the official People's Daily
reported.
- It's becoming harder to gain advanced technology from other countries and
unilateralism and trade protectionism are pushing China to a path of
self-dependency, Xi said during his visit to a railway experiment center in
Heilongjiang Province, noting it was no bad thing as China needed to develop
self-reliability.
- China should continue to develop its manufacturing sector and enhance
innovation, Xi stressed, according to the report.
