China Pulls In Record "Malaysian" Crude Volumes in June

(MNI LONDON) - China crude imports from Malaysia were at record 1.511mbpd in June (Malaysia crude production is around 0.5mbpd)

  • China imported zero barrels from Iran and Venezuela in June based on the customs office data but Malaysia is well known to be reexporting sanctioned barrels to China to try and hide their origin.
  • Iran’s crude/condensate exports reached 1.3mn bpd in June, down from a sanction era record of around 1.5mn bpd in May.
  • Increased exports from Iran are pulling floating crude/condensate lower – steadily releasing since the middle of last year at around 185,000 bpd according to Kpler.
