China Pulls Seasonally High LNG Imports February

China’s LNG imports for February jumped to a seasonal high helped by weaker prices.

  • Imports rose to more than 5.5 million tons - a 15% increase from a year earlier according to Bloomberg tracking.
  • Mild weather and strong inventories across Asia and Europe have dented prices.
  • Chinese firms are less eager to resell supply elsewhere abroad since potential profits are deteriorating according to Bloomberg.
  • China’s LNG imports are forecast to grow 8.1% y/y in 2024 according to the China National Petroleum Corp.
