CHINA STOCKS: Volumes In ETFs Known To Be Used By "National Team" Surge

CHINA STOCKS
  • China's stock market may have finally received the boost it needed as policymakers take aggressive steps to support the economy. While rate cuts and housing market easing were expected, key surprises include direct support for equity markets, such as allowing funds and brokers to access PBoC funding to buy stocks. This goes beyond the usual backing from the "national team" and shows a broader commitment to stabilizing equities.
  • Turnover in some ETFs known to be targets of the "National Team" surged in afternoon trading on Tuesday which more than likely contributed to major indexes extending gains. Volumes in Huatai Pinebridge CSI 300 ETF were back at January levels, when Chinese markets had fallen about 8% over a two week period, it was largely thought those volumes were also linked to the National Team.
