MNI POLICY: China to Expand Tech Infrastructure: Ministry

China will expand its technology infrastructure led by 5G applications as part of its push to boost demand, ensure stable supply chains and promote innovation and digital transformation, the China Central Television reported.

Citing Xin Guobin, vice minister of Industry and Information Technology, the CCTV report said the building of 5G base stations had exceeded expectations, with 88 million terminals connected by the end of July. The government will support sectors including smart medical services, smart grid and transportation and promote the operation of 5G-based industries, he said.

The industrial sector has been recovering since Q2, Among 41 major industrial segments, more than half realized growth in Q2, with total industrial output gaining 4.1% y/y, faster than GDP growth, Xin said.
