/CHINA: UK Considers Huawei Installation Ban In 2021

BBG runs a source story noting that "the UK is considering a ban on the installation of Huawei Technologies 5G equipment as soon as next year to appease lawmakers pushing for tighter restrictions on the Chinese telecom equipment maker".

  • The ban could be implemented as soon as in September 2021.
  • BBG sources said that an early ban on installing Huawei's equipment would "increase costs at firms such as BT and Vodafone, which would be forced to speed up the overhaul of parts of their networks".
