CHINA: China's environmental protection campaign, which has led to the recent
closure of some factories and limited some industrial production, will not
negatively affect China's economic growth, Environmental Protection Minister Li
Ganjie said Monday at a press conference during the 19th Communist Party
Congress. He stressed that the campaign would facilitate China's green
development and is positively correlated with China's economic growth, and would
not harm China's employment rate. Li stressed that the government would only
close factories on a case-by-case basis, focusing on companies that endanger the
environment and "life values."
