China’s September Oil Product Exports Likely up 28%

OIL PRODUCTS

Exports of refined products from China in September are estimated to have been 4.01m mt, up 28% compared to August, according to OilChem’s tracking of ship schedules.

  • The rise is attributed to the release of the third batch of export quotas on Sep. 1 and a consistently high export profit margin.
  • In East China, export profits of gasoline and gasoil were 1,032 y/t and 1,395 y/t respectively as of Sep. 27.
  • OilChem estimates that current planned refined oil product export from China in October stand at 4.17m mt. However, this is subject to change.
  • Gasoil exports are likely to remain elevated amid tight supply in Europe and weaker demand in China, OilChem said.
  • Profit margins for gasoline may diminish as falling demand in the US puts pressure on prices.
