Chinese Diesel Exports Slip 57% April m/m: Customs Data

China exported 620,000 tonnes of diesel in April, the lowest monthly volume since July last year according to General Administration of Customs data.

  • April's diesel exports were higher than the 530,000 tonnes in April 2022, but down 56.9% from the 1.44 million tonnes exported in March of this year.
  • Gasoline exports fell to 820,000 tonnes, versus 980,000 tonnes in April of 2022.
  • Jet fuel exports amounted to 830,000 tonnes, down from 960,000 tonnes a year earlier.
  • Concerns about industrial demand remain in China – impacting diesel consumption outlooks. Gasoline and jet fuel outlooks appear more bullish with travel figures generally strong out of China.
