China’s imports of natural gas, both via pipeline and as LNG, were weak in July, coming in at 8.70 million tonnes, down from 8.72 million in June and around 7% below last July’s 9.34 million based on official data out over the weekend.
- For the January to July period, natural gas imports were down 9.6% to 62.21 million tonnes.
- Coal imports rose to 23.52 million tonnes in July, up 23.9% from June.
- Coal imports were still down 22.1% from last July, and for the first seven months of the year they were down 18% from the same period last year.
