Chinese MOD Spox: US NDAA Undermines Chinese National Security

Wires carrying comments from the Chinese Defence Minister Spokesperson, Tan Kefei, on the US Senate's version of the National Defense Authorization Act which is currently subject to debate and amendment on the floor of the Senate ahead of an expected vote later this afternoon.

• Chinese news agency Xinhua reports that Tan said China, "opposes US intensifying military ties with Taiwan region."
• Xinhua: "Tan Kefei made remarks on agreement reached between US and Taiwan on region's procurement of US surface-to-air missile systems."
• Tan: "These outrageous actions seriously undermine China's national security, as well as threaten peace, stability across Taiwan Strait."
• Tan: "Chinese People's Liberation army will take decisive and effective measures to protect China's sovereignty & territorial integrity."
• Schumer said a short time ago on the prospect of wrapping up the NDAA vote today: “We're working real hard to do it we're having great cooperation, I'm hopeful.”
