Chinese Risk Events Eyed

MARKET TALK

A muted re-open for core markets in Asia after yuan weakness and tech outperformance in the equity space dominated on Monday, albeit against the lower liquidity backdrop provided by the Columbus Day holiday in the U.S.

  • Looking to the local docket in Asia-Pac hours, monthly Chinese trade data is set to headline. Elsewhere, Bank Indonesia is set to issue its latest monetary policy decision later in the day (only 2 of the 25 surveyed by BBG look for a 25bp cut, while the remainder of the sample look for the Bank to leave its key interest rate steady at 4.00%).
  • The PBoC USD/CNY mid-point fix will also be eyed, given the recent dynamic in yuan markets/moves from the PBoC.
