UK: Chinese tech major Huawei has stated that it has received planning
permission to construct a GBP1bn R&D facility in England. 
- Comes at a controversial time for the firm. A significant number of
Conservative MPs have raised concerns about Chinese state's influence at Huawei,
and have voiced opposition to the firm being allowed to construct part of the
UK's 5G network.
- Minutes after the news on the R&D centre broke, former PM Tony Blair says in a
talk with Reuters that the UK will have to side with the US over Huawei to
maintain security relationship. 
- Last night, the US DoD issued ruling that 20 top Chinese firms, including
Huawei, are owned or backed by the Chinese military.
