COAL: EU August Coal Imports Via Russian Ports at 11-Month High

European coal imports from Kazakhstan via Russia’s ports increased to 0.35mn tons in August, the highest level in 11 months, preliminary Kpler ship-tracking data showed, cited by Montel. 

  • Imports from Kazakhstan accounted for 7% of Europe’s total imports last month.
  • Poland took 0.16mn tons of Kazakh’ coal, followed by Germany with 0.07mn tons and Spain with 0.05mn tons, Kpler estimated.
  • European imports of coal from Russian ports were broadly stable on the year during January-August at 1.45mn tons, Kpler data showed.
