Colombian Minutes, BCCh Costa Presentation Among Highlights

  • Data due Wednesday includes Mexican domestic vehicle sales (1300BST/0800ET), the S&P Global Brazil Composite and Services PMI (1400BST/0900ET). Uruguayan CPI (1800BST/1400ET) and Argentine production and exports data also crosses.
  • For central banks, the Colombian monetary policy minutes are due later Wednesday (2300BST/1800ET), covering the September 29th unchanged decision. Consensus remains split on Colombian policy ahead, with solid core inflation seen limiting scope for rate cuts, despite considerable political pressure to begin easing policy rates of 13.25%. The next key data crosses on Oct 6th, with CPI and the next Banrep decision on October 31st.
  • Elsewhere, BCCh President Costa is set to present views on monetary policy at a seminar later today. The appearance follows September’s decision to cut rates by 75bps, as well as the lower-than-expected CPI printed for August.
  • The US Secretary of State Blinken and colleagues head to Mexico City today to discuss ongoing border and crime issues, while the Chilean Constitutional Council are set to vote article-by-article on one of the first drafts of the new charter.
