Commonwealth LNG FID Delayed Until H1 2025

LNG

Commonwealth LNG has delayed a final investment decision on the six-liquefaction train 9.3mtpa LNG facility in Cameron, Louisiana according to LNG Prime.

  • FID is now “targeted for H1 2025” according to Commonwealth LNG’s website compared to a previous target of H1 2024 suggested in November 2023.
  • “Using a highly modularized approach will enable the company to build the facility with greater schedule and cost assurance, allowing commercial operations to begin by the end of 2028,” Commonwealth LNG said.
  • Commonwealth LNG received FERC authorization in November 2022, but non-FTA approval from the DOE is still required.
  • The Biden administration last month paused the issuance of new non-FTA export permits potentially delaying planned US LNG export projects without DOE authorisation.
  • Commonwealth LNG has previously stated the completion of the development funding required to reach FID.
