Congestion Improves At Turkish Straits

Four tankers, carrying around 475,000t of oil, had provided the necessary insurance letters according to regulations and would cross the Istanbul Strait on Monday, Turkey's maritime authority said.

  • On Friday, a total of 20 vessels were waiting to pass through the Bosphorus strait and eight tankers jammed up at the Dardanelles strait.
  • In a statement the authority also said it removed five oil tankers from the country's territorial waters via the Dardanelles Strait as they could not provide confirmation letters for their insurance.
