PERU
  • Hundreds of protesters again took to the streets of Lima on Tuesday, with clashes erupting between some people in the crowds and the police, witnesses said. Peru's President Dina Boluarte called for a "political truce" as well as asking Catholic bishops to help mediate the crisis.

    • Separately, Peru's justice minister insisted Wednesday that the authorities had responded "appropriately", as countries at the United Stations voiced alarm at the country's crackdown on the social unrest.
