Const Court Gives MFP More Time To Submit Defence Statement In Dissolution Case

THAILAND

Thailand Constitutional Court extended the deadline for the main opposition Move Forward Party (MFP) to provide a defence statement in a case that may result in its dissolution over the alleged breach of the country's lese-majeste law.

  • The MFP now has until May 3 rather than April 18 to submit its statement. The extension was requested by the party amid its efforts to compile a comprehensive rebuttal of the charges it is facing.
  • The top court had previously indicated that it could consider giving the MFP more time to file its defence.
