Continued Political Uncertainty Weighs On THB

Political uncertainty continues to weigh on the Baht. USDTHB is up 0.5% today and 4.3% since the mid-May election. Parliament is due to reopen on July 3 and the scheduled meeting between the 2 election winners to decide on who will take the House Speaker’s position has been postponed from today without a new time yet being set. Runner up Pheu Thai is demanding it takes the role. There are also legal challenges to Move Forward’s PM candidate Pita, which could prevent him becoming Thailand’s next PM.
