Copy of VIEW: Goldman Sachs: BOK Pauses While Keeping A Hike Optionality

BOK

Goldman Sachs note that “the forward-looking section of the statement turned incrementally hawkish, putting disinflation pace ahead of other factors. During the press conference, the Governor highlighted that the on-hold decision should not be interpreted as an end to the rate hike cycle and noted that the MPC's majority opinion had moved towards considering another 25bp hike to 3.75% in the near term. We maintain our view that the BOK will deliver its next rate hike in Q2, still most likely in April, with the timing dependent on incoming macro data and the Fed's stance.”
