G10 price action has been subdued so far, with no major regional data releases
scheduled for today. The Antipodeans have taken the lead, by very narrow
margins.
- GBP posted a minor uptick as the Times reported that Boris Johnson is planning
to hold a snap general election "while Jeremy Corbyn is still around." The
reaction move has faded since.
- Fedspeak has continued to flow in with FOMC voter Daly telling RTRS that she
is "not leaning one direction or another" re: rate decision.
- In trade news, RTRS reported that the U.S. and Japan may reach a "small trade
deal" by September. Elsewhere, local media outlets reported that South Korea
might send a trade envoy to Japan; moreover, it has urged Tokyo to withdraw
export controls, but rejected Japan's arbitration process offer.
- Focus today turns to inflation reports from the UK, EZ and Canada, as well as
U.S. housing starts. Fed's George will make a speech, while G7 Finance Ministers
will meet in France.
