  • Despite a commitment to funding, controversy remains around plans to sell 51% of SAA to a private consortium. Due diligence on the consortium, and on SAA by the consortium, still have to be carried out.
    • In addition, SAA's financial statements have not been finalised and the airline has yet to settle on a route, flight and staffing plan
  • Opposition parties call on Ramaphosa to speed up vaccinations, given this was the reason SA was experiencing a third wave.
    • DA says it would launch a parliamentary inquiry into govt's handling of the vaccination programme.
    • Good party, however, said the issue stemmed from global vaccine supply constraints – saying SA's situation was not unique
