CPI Data Up Today, Ruling Party To Unveil Manifesto In June

  • Statistics Poland will publish flash CPI data for March at 09:00BST/10:00SAST. Headline inflation is expected to have eased to +16.0% Y/Y this month from +18.4% prior. NBP Deputy Governor (not an MPC member) Marta Kightley told PAP newswire that macroeconomic data point to faster disinflation and reaffirmed the central bank's projection suggesting that inflation will reach single-digit levels this year and ease to the +1.5%-3.5% Y/Y target over the forecast horizon.
  • Law and Justice Secretary General Krzysztof Sobolewski told PR1 that the ruling party will present its electoral manifesto at the end of June. Gazeta Wyborcza yesterday reported that Law and Justice could boost its 500+ child benefit programme, increasing monthly payouts for each child to PLN700. Asked if he could imagine holding coalition talks with centre-right agrarian PSL or far-right Confederation Sobolewski answered that he has "vivid imagination."
