CPI Softens on Weaker Energy, Food & Services Prices

GERMANY NOV (P) CPI -0.5% M/M, +10.0% Y/Y (= MNI PROJ); OCT +10.4% Y/Y

GERMANY NOV (P) HICP 0.0% M/M, +11.3% Y/Y (FCST +11.3%); OCT +11.6% Y/Y

  • Flash German CPI data for November was in line with MNI's projections, decreasing by -0.5% m/m and up +10.0% y/y. HICP remained more elevated at +11.3% y/y.
  • Energy and food remain the key drivers, energy easing by 4.6pp to +38.4% y/y and food up 0.7pp at +21.0% y/y.
  • Annualised rates for both goods (+17.2% vs +17.8%) and services (+3.7% vs +4.0%) ticked down, which could see core inflation marginally softer than +5.0% y/y recorded in October. The Dec 13 release will provide more colour.
