Croatia Set to Increase LNG Capacity

Croatia is set to invest 180 million euros in pipeline facilities to boost its gas capacities according to the government today, doubling its LNG capacity.

  • A new gas pipeline, estimated to cost 155 million euros, will connect the towns of Zlobin and Bosiljevo in northwestern Croatia. The LNG capacity on the northern Adriatic island of Krk will increase to 6.1 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas annually from 2.6 billion bcm.
  • The floating LNG terminal on the island Krk, which begun operating in January 2021, diversified supply for Croatia. The government did not offer a timeline for the new investment.
