Crude Processing at Indian Refiners +4.1% y/y in September

Crude processing at India’s oil refiners increased 4.1% y/y in September to 20.3m tons according to preliminary data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell.

  • Throughput at Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and Reliance Industries all increase on the year to help beat a government target of 19.1m tons.
  • Crude oil imports rose +6% y/y in September to 17.8m tons but with the imports value falling 10% y/y to $10.6 billion.
  • Petroleum product exports were unchanged year on year in Sep at 5m tons while product imports increased +25% y/y to 4m tons.
